Australian Saddle Pony Association News - The National Show to be held on the 12th February (Sydney) will now include an Open Saddle Horse Ring (Ponies, Galloways & Hacks) as well as a breed ring consisting of Australian & PB APSB, Welsh & part Welsh, and other breeds. Full details in the coming days. The All Australian Show that was to be held in conjunction with the SP Nationals is no longer going ahead on this day.

The Board of Equestrian NSW is calling for nominations from interested ENSW members to be appointed to a saddlehorse committee to administer saddlehorse in NSW. Those interested should request a copy of the SHNSW charter from the ENSW office. The committee, as with the majority of committees in equestrian sport, will be a board appointed, skills-based committee which will be required to develop and implement strategy to develop saddlehorse in NSW and to run various events and activities throughout the year. Bookings for stables and campsites at AELEC for the National Championships will be open to the public on Monday 30th January 2012. Judges have now been announced for most events and classes at the 2012 National Championships. (Please note: Campdraft Judges are yet to be confirmed. These are indicated in the Timetable as 'TBA') The Judges are detailed in the Timetable. The 2012 Fountain of Youth National Yearling and Two Year Old Sale will also be held during the Championships, on Wednesday 7th March 2012.

Just a gentle reminder that entries for the 2012 "The Rug Rack" National Pony of the Year Show close on January 25, 2012. Please be advised that we will not be extending the entries under any circumstances. Entries are now starting to increase with entries received from as far as Tasmania & WA. Camping & Cabins are in high demand with the increased number of interstate entries so If you have not sent in your entries and require camping or cabins, please send your entries in ASAP to ensure your campsite or cabin. Should we receive more requests than available cabin or camping numbers, preference will be given to travellers or those staying for the duration of the show.
If you are staying on the grounds, don't forget to book your tickets for the BBQ on Friday Night. Michael Gates will be bringing a selection of DVD’s from the UK that will no doubt be of interest to many and will no doubt be a definite conversation point. The "Bamborough Pony Stud" Australian Champion of Champions In-Hand Final is attracting some well known ponies from around Australia and will no doubt be a spectacular to watch with a bevy of Royal, National & State Champions vying for the 2012 title. We have posted out 650 invitations Australia wide and it is exciting to open up envelopes and find the purple Acceptance Slip inside. This event is the first of its kind to be held in Australia and the Show Committee are hoping the 2012 Final sets a benchmark for years to come.
